How are we Leaf? How are we Butterfly?

We carry a deep earth kinship. We are kin to all life, including those who fly and those who stay rooted in place.

Nature is decadent and astounding in her variation and endless exuberant expressions of life, which we too are descendants of..

Do you see yourself in other beings? Have you looked? What abundant vibrant life is announcing itself to you?

Perhaps you notice simple things that symbolize your relatedness- like eyes, ears, veins, a beating heart or perhaps a long bony backbone? A backbone carried across space and time, tucked in the bodies of many feather and furry kin who scurry around us daily.. That long curving vertebrae column is easily admired in museums with our dinosaur ancestors on display…

Patterns connect- The branching of the veins in the leaf or butterfly wing are in us too.. Blood, bones, fingers, toes…The simplest blueprints of kinship.

What about the simple actions of daily living that connect us? Eating, drinking, growing, breathing…

In these ways too we are Leaf, and Butterfly ..but how I wish to photosynthesise and fly…
